Short breaks are a great way to experience living away from home in fun, safe and supportive environment. We promote capacity building in a range of areas such as the development of independent and everyday living skills, both in the home and in the community. Our guests learn how to contribute effectively to a household, as well as how to keep themselves and others safe.
The promotion of positive social interactions leads to the development of meaningful and lasting friendships, and in turn our guests enjoy the sense of belonging and connectedness associated with being part of a group of friends.
Exposing our guests to a range of different people, environments, experiences and settings allows the development of effective problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills. This skill development contributes to our guests’ capacity to live independently and has subsequent benefits to their social, mental and emotional well-being.
